My Inspiration
Finding that middle ground between art and science has always been my passion. In 2005 I was at the National Portrait Gallery and came across a painting by William Scrots (Portrait of Edward VI, 1546). Followed shortly down the isle by The Ambassadors (Hans Holbein,1533). In a moment I was inspired. With mind-altering new technology in my hands and access to an amazing team of people - I have been able to realise my vision.
Working processes
I start by expressing a concept using mathematical tools, often involving billions of calculations and many months of preparation. I then explore ways to manifest these “formulae” in the physical world. Each piece is both an engineering and artistic challenge. The mediums I have worked with are perspex, resin, powder, copper mesh and acrylic.
